Keiths Shenanigans

Ignoring things doesn’t make them go away..

by Keith on Jun.03, 2009, under Comp Sci

Well since I have managed to ignore this blog for over a month now I think I should at least give an update on what I’ve been thinking of doing. Work with NetSoc seems to be going well. As soon as we have our Sun E450 up and running for a backup we can start on redesigning the system with efficiency and security in mind. Or at the very least update the main server to the latest BSD release.
We are looking to build a community site based on Drupal, forum, wiki, events, news, etc., all built in. Should be interesting in the least.
Still hoping to build a multitouch surface over the summer with Chris if we both get time, looking to maybe to base a fourth year project on it? Been really keen on human-computer interaction lately and can see great potential in a mixture of touch and gesture control systems.

Blog is back up!

by Keith on Apr.27, 2009, under Comp Sci, ODCSSS

After transferring my website to my own server I seemed to have screwed up the database permissions for WordPress :) But now I am back on the air. Or tubes. Or high velocity electron currents.

Didn’t get ODCSSS, hope I can find something to do this summer though :(

ODCSSS Application

by Keith on Mar.20, 2009, under ODCSSS

Well my application is in. I hope that this is successful. I am actually looking forward to it despite the fact I won’t know till the 2 of April. And that could lead to major disappointment.

After doing some work experience at TeaGasc, mostly testing their new database and looking at the GIS system they are implementing. It was pretty fun, looking forward to going back when I get a chance. Especially when they have the GIS system fully up and running.

TMAs

by Keith on Mar.01, 2009, under Math

I really should keep track of the date, especially when it is February. Silly 28 days in a month. They should remove a day from January and March each and put them into February. Leap days will be on the 31st!
I don’t know who exactly they are, but they should definitely got on this!
I assumed at least 30 days in the month and therefore had until Thursday to mail off my TMA but cause of stunted February I have till Tuesday!
Not smart of me granted but who honestly expects me to keep track of the month!

Twittering

by Keith on Feb.27, 2009, under Comp Sci

Okay so I started twittering on a suggestion from Aaron Quigley that I should keep track of IT blogs and similar to get more information for my application to ODCSSS. I hope I get in. It looks like a great opportunity to work in proper research, and learn alot along the way.

Check out my twitter!

Lighting and networking!

by Keith on Feb.25, 2009, under Comp Sci, Math

Well the upgrading of gforge was fun today. Or Fusion Forge as its now known. Yet they haven’t changed the package names… But now know how to access different repositories without having the system automatically upgrade to above stable versions.

And the graphics turned out to be cool too. Got textures working, still have to ask whether my method is valid or is it just a hack… :D

Counting Time

by Keith on Feb.14, 2009, under Uncategorized

Big news for the Unix fans. The POSIX time at23:21:30 on Saturday the 14th of Febuary was 1234567890. I taped on a screen shot of the occasion with the C program I used for the countdown.
